The Evolution of HISP Nigeria has been a remarkable and eventful one. HISP Nigeria was established in 2006 by a group of Social Scientists, and Information technology professionals. HISP was set up to drive the paradigm shift in data and information management. Moving it from a data collection for reporting to information for functional planning and management approach. HISP works to bring equity and evidence to the Nigerian information systems space. Providing technical support for the Federal Ministry of Health and all partners and standing at the vanguard of information management innovations and solutions construction. HISP is active and visible member of the global HISP Network, we are the official academy partner for Nigeria and have the deepest expertise and experience in delivering Information Management Systems content in Nigeria. A Revolution in Strengthening the Health Care System
HISP was established in 2006 and has been working towards building capacity for new systems through the DHIS 2, and overall support of the FMoH and SMoH throughout the country. HISP NG signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the FMoH, which warranted it to actively roll out the DHIS2 as the official software for data harvesting, collation and processing of the HMIS Data sets
Partnership for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS2)
It is an organization led by Abt Associates (a conglomeration of professional associates) and funded by UK aid from the Department for International Development. The project began in 2008 and worked in five states of Nigeria: Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, and Lagos
International Participation
The concern of DHIS in Nigeria heightened with the involvement of the Nigeria HISP team in all international activities of the global HISP Community. There has been a HISP Nigeria Team on every global congregation right from the onset in Tanzania.
Nurturing the Culture of Data Application
HISP broke the ice in HMIS pathways with her numerous service products like technical advice and assistance for appropriate ICT soft and hardware for health information systems, technical advice and guidance for information needs assessment, performance assessment and programme evaluations; design, configuration, roll out and management of information systems as well as applying GIS systems for high quality surveillance and out-break response management
DHIS Installation Expansion
The Local Action Committee Against aids is an organization of the FMoH which sole responsibility is to handle HIV AIDS matters at the Local Government Area Levels of each state in the country. HISP has done well installing DHIS software in 6 states for the use of LACAs in those States. This was later on to become the responsibility of for HISP to cover for the whole country
WHO Influencing Health programmes delivery in Nigeria
The world health body contracted HISP Nigeria to conduct training of officers on DHIS2 in 2016 before the commencement of developing a mobile DHIS2 platform to integrate the e-project in selected states of the country by 2018
Management Sciences for Health (MSH)
Many jobs were undertaken for the Management sciences for Health (MSH) in conjunction with the Global fund. This organization identified HISP Nigeria as the corporate body with proven capability to surmount the current demand for a strong surveillance, monitoring and evaluation system (SME) in the country
Health Information System Programme Retreat
The Health Information System Programme-Nigeria team took out three days in an all staff retreat to soul search and appraise over her years of service to the country; to see whether the company is thrusting forward as it should or not and change the organization’s modus operandi, technique, styles, or manner after having performed a lot but still moving at a snail pace amidst plenty of opportunities
Rebranding
HISP Nigeria rebranded and evolved from its initial focus on health information systems for public health to a broader scope, now operating as HISP Nigeria Public Health Solutions. This change reflects its expanded mission to provide comprehensive support for health systems strengthening, data management, and public health initiatives across Nigeria
DHIS2 for Education
HISP Nigeria, in collaboration with UNICEF, is spearheading the implementation of DHIS2 for Education in Nigeria. This innovative project leverages the power of data to transform the education sector by enabling real-time collection, analysis, and use of critical education-related information. Through this initiative, HISP Nigeria is helping to strengthen evidence-based decision-making, enhance resource allocation, and improve overall educational outcomes across the country
